Vol au Vent | Female Teeterboard Trio

Who are we?

Hello! We are Clara Laurent, Lilyclaire Major, and Marie-Sophie McKinnon and together we are Vol au Vent, a Korean teeterboard trio. We are the first women to come out of the National Circus School of Montreal in teeterboard and we are excited to share our vision of what this discipline can be!

Clara Laurent

Clara grew up doing artistic gymnastics before turning to circus as a hobby at the end of high school. After falling in love with it, she went to the National Circus School of Montreal, graduating in 2021 as an aerial straps specialist. She returned to the NCS in spring 2023 in order to participate in Lilyclaire and Marie-Sophie's graduation act.

Lilyclaire Major

From a very young age, Lilyclaire toured in a family show with her parents. She began competitive trampoline at the age of 10 becoming a national champion in the 2016 Canadian Championships. She transferred her abilities into performing via teeterboard at the National Circus School of Montreal, where she also developed an affinity for German Wheel and created a fluid, playful and skillful routine to add to her repertoire.

Marie-Sophie McKinnon

At a young age, Marie-Sophie did competitive gymnastics (2015 Eastern Canadian All-Around Champion) as well as diving and trampoline. She decided to leave Quebec, alone, and travel the world. Then, after three years of traveling, she applied to the National Circus School of Montreal in Aerial Silks and was accepted in teeterboard.

In a universe based on trust and communication on an unstable apparatus, BECHAMEL sauce holds all the other ingredients together, allowing the women to soar high into the air. This number brings together light, lightness, colors, and humor, gathering these elements to create an atmosphere of connection between sisters. Together, they exhibit vulnerability and support for each other, and offer a breath of fresh air to the audience.
